Roads and Sewers were constructed on the site of an old coal works. The ground was raised by nearly 2m and remediated during the construction process. All foundations were individually designed to reflect the remaining voids still underground from the coal workings. The foundations ranged from shallow strip footings, deep trench fill to reinforced rafts and piled foundations
